How Our Plants Are Grown
We believe that a resilient garden starts with a strong foundation. Here is exactly what goes into the plants we bring to your home:
True 1-Quart Pots: Our perennials are sold in deep 1-quart pots, providing ample room for root development.
Winter-Tested & Second-Season Hardy: Most of our plants are sold once they are in their second season. They have already spent a full winter outdoors surviving the Ohio elements without the protection of a heated greenhouse. They are hardened to our climate and ready to transition smoothly into your yard.
Locally Sourced Ecotypes: We grow our native plants from seeds collected from local ecotypes. Because they share the DNA of our region's wild species, they are naturally adapted to Northeast Ohio's specific sun patterns, moisture levels, and heavy clay soils.
100% Pesticide-Free: To ensure your garden is safe for the very wildlife you want to attract, we never use systemic pesticides or fungicides. Our plants are clean, healthy, and safe for bees, butterflies, and birds from day one.
A Note on Spring Appearance
Because our plants live outdoors according to the natural seasons rather than being forced into early bloom under artificial greenhouse lights, their top growth matches the calendar. In early spring, they may look modest above the soil, but underneath, their root systems are robust, active, and ready to take off as soon as they meet your soil.
