Anise Hyssop is a mid-summer standout that combines pollinator power with beautiful texture and scent. Tall, upright spikes of purple flowers draw in bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, while the aromatic foliage adds a gentle anise-mint fragrance to the garden. It’s a sturdy, adaptable perennial that fits easily into mixed borders, native beds, and pollinator patches.

All perennials are sold in 1-quart pots with established root systems. Learn more about our growing standards here.

If you’re looking for a plant that both looks good and actively feeds pollinators, Anise Hyssop (Agastache foeniculum) earns its place in the garden. Upright stems carry dense spikes of purple flowers that are consistently visited by bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, turning a simple bed into a summer “stopover” for wildlife. The foliage is softly scented, somewhere between anise and mint, adding another layer of interest. Because it blooms for an extended window, Anise Hyssop also helps bridge gaps between earlier and later-season flowers, keeping nectar available when other plants might be resting.
