Wild Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) is one of the first signs of spring for the shade garden. With its striking red and yellow bells, this is the plant the hummingbirds seek out first every April.
All perennials are sold in 1-quart pots with established root systems. Learn more about our growing standards here.

Wild Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) is an essential for any part-shade spot that needs a wake-up call in the spring. Unlike the hybridized versions you find at big-box stores, this native is resilient and actually thrives in our woodland edges. It has a beautiful, airy habit and will gently self-seed, filling in gaps over time without ever becoming a bully. I’ve found it’s the best way to bridge the gap between the last frost and the start of the summer bloom.
