Unlike its taller milkweed cousins, Butterfly Weed Asclepias tuberosa) stays relatively low to the ground and behaves beautifully in a structured landscape, making it perfect for the front or middle of a sunny garden border. Its brilliant orange flower clusters provide a high-contrast pop of color from June through August. It serves as a critical Monarch host plant, but with the added bonuses of being highly deer-resistant and exceptionally drought-tolerant once established.
